Detailing the football accomplishments over the past four years of the Manatee High Class of 2014

As this year's Manatee graduating class departs, let's look back at what they accomplished:

During the past four years...
  • Only one loss to a public school - 2013's playoff game loss to Ft. Pierce (Prior to this game, the last loss to a public school was to Plant in 2009.)
  • Unbeaten in all games against Manatee County Schools.
  • Ranked #1 in the nation during a season for one of the longest periods of time in school history.
  • Defeated Florida powerhouses: Miami Central, Miramar, University School, Cypress Bay, Palm Beach Dwyer, Jacksonville First Coast and more.
  • Won one state championship (Sophomore year of this class).
  • Largest signing day class in school history in February of 2014 with 12 players signing.
  • Traveled for out of state games to Pennsylvania and Maryland (2).
  • Appeared on National TV (ESPN) two times.
Season by Season
2013 - 11-1 Lost to Ft. Pierce in playoffs (Senior year)
2012 - 13-1 Semi-Finals - Lost to St. Thomas (Junior year)
2011 - 13-2 State Champions - Losses to Good Counsel and Don Bosco (Sophomore year)
2010 - 13-1 Semi-Finals - Lost to St. Thomas (Freshman year)

Football coaches from NC State and Middle Tennessee State visit Manatee High

Coaches from NC State and Middle Tennessee State visited Manatee on Thursday. to date, coaches from 65 college programs have visited Manatee during spring practice.

Meet Manatee's new QB: Sophomore speedster Kavious "KP" Price (Video highlights)

Price, a sophomore, will be earning his first start on varsity as a QB. Price played receiver, QB and punt returner on varsity last year.

He is one of the top 10 fastest athletes in the state of Florida in the 100 meters, running a 10.96 at the 2014 Florida FHSAA Outdoor State (Track) Championships in Jacksonville earlier this month. LINK to video of Price's 2013 football highlights.

Football coaches from Kentucky, Central Michigan and more visit Manatee High

Coaches/Recruiters from Kentucky, Central Michigan, Troy and Ohio University visited Manatee on Wednesday. This brings the number of schools visiting Manatee during spring practice to 63 different colleges.

Purdue becomes 59th college football program to visit Manatee High during spring football practice

Purdue University became the 59th college to visit Manatee during spring football which started May 1st. Other football recruiters/coaches visiting during the last few days were Alabama, North Carolina, Presbyterian and Tulane.

Football recruiters from UCF, Duke and others visit Manatee High

Last week finished out with recruiters from the following visiting Manatee: Duke, UCF, UMass, Morgan State, Western Kentucky University, Coffeyville Community College.

For fans from visiting teams or others attending their first game at Joe Kinnan Field at Hawkins Stadium in Bradenton...The stadium is adjacent to the high school. (From the East, SR 70 to 26th St. W. - turn right; 26th St. W. to 9th Avenue West - then turn left; 9th Avenue to 33rd St. W.)

Coming from the South or East:
From I-75 and the SR. 64E exit. The drive is approximately 8 miles but can run 20-30 minutes depending on the day and time of the week.

From the Florida State Fairgrounds near the I-4/I-75 Interchange in Tampa. The drive is 42 miles but can run 50-65 minutes depending on day and time of the week.

Parking information
Parking is very limited so arrive early otherwise you will be parking on a residential street. If you want paid parking in a lot, there is some available on school property near 9th Avenue near 35th St. W. and 32nd St. W. and 11th Avenue.

Pregame/Postgame meal at hometown favorite - The Shake Pit
An institution in Bradenton that has been serving burgers, fries and its famous shakes for decades. Walls and ceilings are adorned with photos, autographs and mementos from great Manatee football players and teams over the years...A-frame roof sports huge Manatee High Red "M"...Not easy to miss less than one mile from Joe Kinnan Field at Hawkins Stadium...Located at 38th St. W. and Manatee Avenue W.

Visitors and home fans both enter at one location, which is also the location of the box office. It is located on 32nd St. W. off of 9th Avenue.

Manatee WR Kelvin McNight lands University of Maryland scholarship offer

Manatee WR Kelvin McNight just landed an offer from the University of Maryland.

The Maryland Offensive Coordinator, Mike Locksley, is very familiar with McKnight and Manatee High. Last year Locksley visited Manatee on a recruiting trip and he also saw his son play against Manatee.

Locksley's son is the QB of Gilman High School in Baltimore, which Manatee played last year in the University of Maryland's stadium. LINK to the news story on McKnight's offer. LINK to McKnight's junior season highlights.

Jim Panagos, Defensive Line Coach for Rutgers, highlighted the college coaches visiting Manatee High on Monday. In addition to Rutgers, the University of Albany, Jacksonville University, Ave Maria University and Lafayette College all visited.

Video/Audio rewind: Manatee and University School tangle as Manatee wins a stunner after being down 21-0

At the time of the game both teams were ranked in the top 20 in the nation and the game was touted as the nation's best prep game that weekend. University School's QB, Sean White, will be at Auburn this fall.
