Senior DB Nick Peters won the 300 meter hurdles at the district track meet. Peters then placed second at the regional meet qualifying him for the state championship meet on May 3rd. Congratulations!

The nation's top 4 ranked high school football teams may one day be playing in an officially sanctioned national high school football bowl tournament. The FHSAA is slated to review the proposal. LINK to the story.

Manatee football shows up at district track meet; Darian Dailey, Kavious Price and Marquel Hines finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th in 100M

Manatee DB Darian Dailey, who is headed to Rutgers this fall, finished second in the 100M in the district track meet last week with a time of 11.05. Dailey finished second to East Lake's All American receiver George Campbell who ran a 10.98.

Manatee junior Kavious Price placed third, while Marquel Hines, who is headed to Presbyterian, finished fourth.

Presbyterian College may have got the deal of the century with its late signing of Manatee's Marquel Hines. Presbyterian is a D1 college that plays in the Big South Conference. Manatee Magic: 75 years of football at Manatee High School was a book written in 1989 by former Bradenton Herald sportswriter Tad Reeve. It detailed 75 years of Manatee football history and was one of the first books in the nation written exclusively about a high school football program.
