The website Floridahsfootball.com recently announced its All-Southwest Florida Regional Elite Team which included nine Manatee Hurricanes.
1st Team - Daniel Doyle (DL), Demarcus Christmas (DL), Joey Lauro (DB), Trevon Walters (RB) and Kyle Mauk (OL).
2nd Team - Greg Reaves (LB).

Manatee football awards banquet: Johnnie Lang receives "Iron Cane Award"

Sophomore Johnnie Lang earned the Iron Cane Strength and Conditioning Award at the recent Manatee football awards banquet.

Herald Tribune: Danny Doyle, Joey Lauro, Greg Reaves and Demarcus Christmas earn 1st Team All Area Honors

The Herald Tribune's all area team included four Manatee Hurricanes on its first team: Danny Doyle, Demarcus Christmas, Joey Lauro and Greg Reaves. Two other Hurricanes, Darian Dailey and Travon Rumph, earned honorable mention awards.

Georgia Tech and USF head coaches visit Manatee on Thursday

On Thursday, Manatee hosted head coaches from two Division 1 schools - Georgia Tech Head Coach Paul Johnson and USF Head Coach Willie Taggart. Manatee offensive lineman Jake Stickler is a Georgia Tech commit and another lineman, Michael Galati, is a USF commit.

A review of how Manatee's 2013 opponents fared:

- After beating Manatee, Ft. Pierce Central lost to Tampa Plant in the next round of the playoffs.
- EastLake lost in the semi-finals to eventual state champion Palm Beach Dwyer.
- Friendship Collegiate Academy (Washington DC) lost in the DC football championship.
- University Suns lost in the second round of the playoffs to eventual state champion Miami BT Washington.
- Palmetto lost in the first round of the playoffs to EastLake.
- Venice lost in the first round of the playoffs to Armwood.
- Riverview lost in the first round of the playoffs to Ft. Pierce Central.
- Sarasota lost in the first round of the playoffs to Pinellas Park.
- Gilman (MD) finished 7-3.
- Southeast didn't make playoffs.
- St. Pete High didn't make playoffs.
